Core Strength
Date: January 24, 2004 - Saturday, 3-6pm
Location: 8 Limbs Wedgwood
Fee: $35 Early registration / $40 Day of Workshop
It is the strength
of the core that both grounds our body into the earth and connects us
heavenwards. Energetically, the pelvis and abdomen areas are at the center
of our body, yet our core often becomes obstructed due to stress, lack
of integrated use, and emotional holding patterns. Most of us are not
aware how our core has a direct influence on our spinal alignment, our
life force, our personal power and also the flow of our creative energy.
In this workshop,
Katerina guides you through vigorous abdominal strengthening techniques,
and hip openings to release blocked energy thus freeing up potential and
inner strength. Learn about the anatomy of the core in relation to the
ancient wisdom of chakras, bandhas, and kriya. We will also explore how
to flow through challenging asanas with greater awareness and control.
A healthy abdominal strength is helpful for relieving emotional and physical
constipation. It also promotes the health of our back, digestive organs
and reproductive system.
Coming to yoga with
a fragile constitution and severe back fracture, Katerina found core strengthening
as one of the most therapeutic and empowering aspect of her practice!

"It
is the strength of the core that both grounds our body
into the earth and connects us heavenwards."
The
potential of our inner abdominal muscles can be immense.
Physically, they support the wholeness of our bodily alignment.
The health of our core also supports our respiratory system,
digestive system, as we as our reproduction system. Energetically,
the pelvis and abdomen areas are at the center of our
body, yet we often are disconnected from this area. In
this workshop, Katerina guides you through vigorous abdominal
strengthening techniques, and hip openings to release
blocked energy thus freeing up potential and inner strength.
Learn about the anatomy of the core in relation to the
ancient wisdom of chakras, bandhas, and kriya. We will
also explore how to flow through challenging asanas with
greater awareness and control.
Coming to yoga with
a fragile constitution and severer back fractures, Katerina has found
core strengthening as one of the most therapeutic and empowering aspect
of her practice. Katerina's teaching style is gentle and yet highly disciplined
in a compassionate way. Her classes nurture you through a dynamic vinyasa
flow, with an emphasis on connecting with your inner teacher and sacred
space.
