Studio PolicyMEMBERSHIPS: PAYMENT FREEZING/EXTENDING EXPIRATION DATES: PROMOTIONS: DISCOUNTS: RETAIL RETURNS: BOUNCED CHECKS: PARKING: Washington Sales Tax UpdateDear students, The Washington State Department of Revenue believes that all yoga classes are categorized as physical fitness classes, and as such are subject to Washington state sales tax. According to the state, tax is required on physical fitness classes (e.g. yoga, aerobics, weight training), but no taxes are required for "instructional" classes (e.g., teacher training). The Yoga Association of North America is currently filing a class action to reverse a decision that has made by DOR and State representatives. Every single Yoga Studio in Washington will be notified soon. Everyone who wish to "fight the state" will join force and send in signatures from Yoga Studio owners, directors, professional Yoga instructors, and Yoga students. The Yoga Association will also invite Yoga Alliance, Yoga Association BC, International Yoga Masters, and other prestige Yoga associations across to globe for support. The 2nd draft of this class action is still in the process of being editing, and will be reviewed by the Association's attorney before it reached to everyone in the community. Meanwhile, YW does keep a detailed record of students' payment since October 6, 2008. If by some miracle that we win the "fight". All sales tax previously collected will be returned to YW students accordingly. We are sorry to raise the class prices so suddenly and we thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or ask.
We would love to hear from you!
